Wayward - OPEN Veteran's Day, a reading on warrior women in pop culture, and live music

Posted on behalf of Wayward Coffeehouse:

Don’t forget that Wayward will be open regular hours on Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11. It’s a great day to come out for lunch at Wayward, get some studying done, work on your NaNoWriMo novel, or meet friends for an afternoon of great coffee and conversation. Know a veteran? Give them a call!

We have an amazing lineup of events for this weekend. On Friday we welcome back
Star Called Sun for an evening of indie rock from 8 - 10 pm. Come check out these talented performers on their return to Wayward, and if you’ve seen them before, we know you’ll want to catch them again!

On Saturday from 8 - 10 pm we have a very special
Reading and Discussion with local author/blogger Jennifer K. Stuller reading from her book Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors: Superwomen in Modern Mythology. Stuller will be presenting a lively history of warrior woman through video clips, slides, and readings from her book – a question and answer session will follow. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.

About the book:
From Wonder Woman to Buffy Summers, Emma Peel to Sydney Bristow, Charlie’s Angels to the Powerpuff Girls, Superwomen are more than just love interests or sidekicks who stand by their men. In her new book, “Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors: Superwomen in Modern Mythology,” author, writer, blogger and pop culture historian, Jennifer K. Stuller, explains how the female hero in modern mythology has broken through the boys’ club barrier of tradition and reveals the pivotal role of high-heeled, costumed, and kick-ass crimefighters in popular culture.
