NWSFS at KBTC / Volunteers Opportunity: Thursday Sept 9

Posted on behalf of Michael Citrak - NWSFS Chair:

Howdy

NWSFS has been invited to help out at KBTC Public Television for a pledge evening Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 7:00 P.M. – 10:30 P.M.

We'll staff the phones and take pledges for the station.  We need 8 to 10 volunteers to run their pledges....it's always a lot of fun helping out.  I think it's pretty cool seeing the inside of the studio.

They will air VIDEO GAMES LIVE and BELLYDANCE SUPERSTARS (It’s a stage show).

Please let me know if you can volunteer, e-mail me: (mcitrak AT comcast DOT net).  The pledge window is 7:00 P.M. – 10:30 P.M.  Getting there by 6:30pm should be enough time for new people to get the quick instructions for taking pledges and learn which buttons to push on the phones.

KBTC Public Television is a service of Bates Technical College.
The studio is at their Mohler Campus at:

2320 South 19th Street
Tacoma, WA 98405
253.680.7700

Basic Directions via construction
I-5 to Tacoma
take Hwy 16
then take S. Union Ave exit
turn right on to S. Union Ave
turn right on S. 19th St.
KTBC is on the right in a couple of blocks

Please let me know if you'll be there, so we know to watch the front door to let you in .  No really.

Wayward - Celtic/World music and a motorcycle social

Posted on behalf of Wayward Coffeehouse:

We’re getting another preview of Autumn the next few days, but we’re anticipating some sun breaks over the weekend. With that chill in the air, though, its a great time to come to Wayward for tasty hot coffee treats. An Apple Blackberry Latte will warm you right up and bring a smile to your face no matter what the weather is!

Friday is our monthly
Cage-Free Coffee night where we try to lure out our motorcycle-riding friends to gather at Wayward for socializing and bike ogling. So come down (or better yet, ride down) to Wayward between 6 - 8 pm on Friday and check out the array of bikes that have braved the potentially dodgy weather that evening!

Saturday we welcome the return of
Tania Opland performing Celtic/World music once more at Wayward. Tania has been touring the globe this past spring and summer and we are delighted to have her back in Seattle and performing at Wayward. Be sure to come down on Saturday from 8 - 10 pm to catch this incredibly talented musician.

FRIDAY, August 27 EVENT: Cage-Free Coffee

A motorcycle social, come down and check out the array of bikes!

SATURDAY, August 28 LIVE MUSIC: Tania Opland

NWSFS August Social -- Details

Posted on behalf of Jeanine Swanson - NWSFS Vice-Chair :

Please join us Saturday, August 21st at Greg Paddock’s place in Fall City for a NWSFS Social!

We’ll start at 5:00 PM p.m. and continue until around 10 PM. This is a potluck so please bring your contribution of a main dish (occasionally have enough), side dish (rarely have enough), beverage, munchies (usually have enough), or dessert (often have enough, but then really, who could object to too much dessert). Let's start early, so if the weather is good we can enjoy the deck that's half as large as the house!  Bring any folding chairs, tables, and pavilions you have (really, it's a large deck)  There is a small barbecue if anyone wants to use it.

Address: 33517 SE 51st St., Fall City

Directions:

    * Take I-90 east to exit 22, Preston-Fall City.
    * Turn left at the stop sign
    * Turn right at the tee onto Preston-Fall City Road SE (route 203).
    * After 3.5 miles on, there will by a Y in the road; follow the main route to the right, then take the next right into River View Park.
    * Turn left immediately
    * Follow the main road to the right and up the hill.
    * Continue around and uphill, my place will be on the left, with the house number on a sign in the yard.
    * If you use Google's directions, the house will be on the right.

Parking Note:

The first couple of lucky drivers get to drive up the steep driveway and park above the house, the rest can park along the road.  Since the upper parking is not visible from the street, best to walk up and check first.  Note: this is not a very accessible place.  There's the afore-mentioned steep driveway, and both entrances to the house involve gravel and several steps.
